The Role
You will draft the Wills that our clients’ families will one day rely on. Working inside the Wills & Custody team, you take instructions gathered by our estate planners, turn them into accurate documents, and carry them through vetting, attestation and custody. It is precise, deadline-driven work with genuine client contact — you will meet clients, explain drafts in a language they understand, and act as a witness at signing.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft Wills from client instructions and prepare supporting documents through to final execution copy.
- Vet submitted instruction forms and documents for accuracy, completeness and internal consistency before drafting begins.
- Liaise with estate planners and clients on drafts, revisions and queries — in person and virtually.
- Interpret instructions accurately, and flag ambiguities or conflicts back to the estate planner before they reach the client.
- Attend attestation appointments, act as a witness, and verbally translate the contents of the Will into a language the client understands.
- Prepare invoices, and process and verify proof of payment for services rendered.
- Maintain document management, filing and custody records to departmental standards.
- Support the wider team on ad-hoc administrative tasks and cross-departmental work.
What You Will Need
Essential
- Diploma or above, in any discipline.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain a legal document in plain terms.
- Demonstrable attention to detail — you notice the wrong name, the missing clause, the date that does not match.
- Able to hold multiple files at different stages without losing track of any of them.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and document management systems.
- Discretion in handling confidential family information.
Advantageous
- Experience as a paralegal, or in a law firm, in-house legal team or corporate secretarial practice.
- Ability to converse in Mandarin, Malay, Tamil or a Chinese dialect, in order to translate the contents of a Will for clients who are not fluent in English.
- AEPP® certification, or the appetite to work towards it.
How You Work
- Meticulous, organised and attentive to detail.
- Adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, hands-on and willing to learn.
- Dependable and easy to work alongside.
What We Offer
- Structured training with a defined competency framework and a named supervisor.
- Sponsored pathway towards AEPP® certification through Precepts Academy.
- Direct exposure to clients and estate planners from early in the role, not after two years.
- A confirmed salary increment on successful completion of training.
- Medical and dental benefits upon confirmation.
- Annual salary review and performance-based bonus.
Work Arrangements
- On-site. This role requires physical presence for attestation appointments and witnessing, and for custody of original documents.
- 5-day work week.
- Training provided.
